The Venom by Raubritter The Venom by Raubritter
The former Britannic Majesty’s ship VENOM, sixth-rate frigate
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Venom
Type: Sixth-rate frigate (32 guns)
Sail plan: Full rigged ship, sail area ca. 15,000 sq ft
Theme fore and aft: snake headed Gorgon (Medusa)
Builder: Portsmouth
Launched: December 1718
Stats:
Tons burthen: 706.67 tons
Length: 125 ft (38 m)
Beam: 35 ft 2 in (10.72 m)
Depth of hold: 12 ft (3.7 m)
Draft: 18 ft (5.49 m)

Complement: 220 – 250

Armament:

32 guns of various weights comprising:
Upper deck: Twenty-six 12-pounders
Quarter deck: Four 6-pounders
Forecastle: Two 6-pounders
also twelve swivels guns

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This took AGES, but now I proudly present Jaquard duSang's new ship, the Venom. He takes her during the attack on Port Drake, an adventure someday coyotero (see him on furaffinity!) will hopefully write.

Concerning the stats I did my best to keep it most closely to the historical reality. he fifth rates at the start of the 18th century were small two-deckers, generally either 40-gun ships with a full battery on two decks, or "demi-batterie" ships, carrying a few heavy guns on their lower deck (which often used the rest of the lower deck for row ports) and a full battery of lesser guns on the upper deck. The Venom is a little bit bigger then the Stormborn, Logan Silver's ship, and the most modern vessel the British sent to the Caribbean, but after all the Stormborns got more experience. To most other ships, the Venom is not just a serious, but deadly thread.

if you have any critics, feel free to tell me!
Enjoy

Looks a bit small for a 32-gun frigate. Or is that just the perspective?
